All of This Is Us: Honoring the Fragments of Ourselves | Women’s Workshop at The Art Institute of Chicago

We all have examples:

• Traits in ourselves we see as less than ideal

• Old stories and beliefs that complicate our todays

• Difficulty embracing our whole journey, both successes and sorrows

How might it feel to honor ALL of our broken and beautiful experiences?
How might Art provide insight to those fragments?

Join Workshop Leader Katie O’Connell for a powerful workshop exploring what it means to embrace the whole self. Through insightful discussion, journaling, and questioning we’ll:

• Investigate our definitions of “whole” and “broken” 

• Uncover how culture and relationships impact those perceptions 

• Discover new ways of viewing the dichotomy of struggle and success

• Use art as a metaphor for deeper understanding

We’ll make a Saturday trip to the Art Institute of Chicago where we’ll experience the joy of discovery by engaging with select pieces from the Art Institute’s collection. Our Art Institute guide, Adjunct Lecturer Gigi Vaffis, will invite us to make connections to our own journey while deepening our knowledge of the art. 

All of This Is Us welcomes the broken and beautiful, helping weave all of our fragments into the unique tapestry that is us.
